I’ve been using the Dyson humidifier for over a year. In the beginning, everything was fine, but after a month, I noticed that the humidity wasn’t increasing, even though the water tank was more than half full. The problem is that after a week or two, slime starts to form in the water container, clogging the mesh in front of the water pump, preventing water from being pumped. As a result, the pump runs dry without water, and I believe this is what causes the pumps to fail.
They start making horrible noises—very loud, harsh grinding sounds. One night, my girlfriend and I woke up from this terrifying noise, like something straight out of a horror movie. I don’t understand why there isn’t a sensor that would stop the pump when no water is being pumped. Also, it would be great if the water in the tank had a built-in UV sterilization system to prevent slime buildup. That’s just my opinion—I don’t know if it would work, but it seems like a logical solution.
So, I started experiencing issues with the grinding noise from the water pump, and then the fan motor began to whistle. It still whistles occasionally, though not all the time. I contacted customer support, and at first, everything went well. I sent my unit for repair, and within a week, they replaced the pump and sent it back to me. I was happy, took it home, and started using it. However, after just about five hours of operation, the grinding noise and whistling came back.
I contacted customer support again, providing them with videos of my Dyson humidifier’s operation, where the issues were clearly audible. They asked me to send it back for further inspection. I shipped it with all the accessories, including the remote control and power adapter. Two weeks later, I received it back, but when I opened the box at home, I realized that the power adapter and remote control were missing. Without them, I couldn’t even turn the unit on.
I contacted customer support again on January 21, 2025, and they assured me that they would return my missing items. However, to this day, I haven’t received them. I regularly follow up, but they just keep telling me to wait because they have many customers. I have still not received my remote and power adapter. Eventually, I bought a new power adapter myself so I could use the humidifier because waiting seemed pointless—they were simply ignoring me.
I didn’t expect such treatment. How hard is it to return something they forgot to pack? On the positive side, when I got my humidifier back the second time, they had replaced everything: a new HEPA filter (even though it’s not covered under warranty), a new humidification filter, and a new pump—all free of charge under warranty. So, thank you, Dyson, for that.
However, it’s disappointing that they didn’t bother returning the items they forgot, and it seems like they’ve completely forgotten about me. It’s not a pleasant experience. Today is March 31st. The humidifier is working, though the motor still whistles a bit, and the pump makes some noise when pumping water. I’m not sure if I should contact customer support again.
Also, it doesn’t humidify my room to 60% properly. I don’t know why. My room is small—about 15-20 square meters.
