Pure Cool creating white dust

My Dyson Pure Cool is about a year old and it used to work great, now it’s creating a white dust and the pollutant readings are off. Any idea whats going on?

Hey @danroberts

My purifier did the same earlier this year. Caused by the filter “shedding dust”… Apparent it’s normal.

I found the emailed Dyson sent me, they just asking me to clean the machine.

I’ve copied their advice...

Filter dust poses no health issue and will not reduce the filter performance. If you see signs of dust, please follow the below steps:

  • Remove the filter from the machine
  • Use a clean cloth to clean the front and back plastic areas of the filter.
  • Use a brush to clean the front and back plastic areas of the filter.
  • Should the lower body of the machine display signs of dust, using a brush please brush away until the machine is free of dust.

Cleaning the filter was fine, but the dust in the machine was harder to get to. I ended up using my vacuum cleaner to get it all out.

Good luck

Emma :)

Hi @danroberts

If you’ve not already done so, I’d also recommencement reading our ‘Keeping your purifier performing at its best’ article. It will help to highlights the other areas of the machine that should be checked/cleaned regularly.

Thanks,

Stuart
