I am so upset I could cry😢 when you bought my Dyson Airwrap (saved and got it brand new) nowhere did it state that it only works in the country I purchased it in. I got it so I could take it with me when I move to America later this year and come to find out I cannot do that.. it’s so upsetting that Dyson is keeping that under wraps so to speak.. it should be all over the Airwrap page… now I’m out £600 and can’t use it.. honestly.. I don’t know what to do.. is there anything I can do to make it work in the states?

@Ineta I said it before and I will say it again, this isn’t new! They’ve never guaranteed use internationally, on any of their products, they just don’t plaster it all over their products!

If you read the fine print in the manual, they have a line that absolves them of any responsibility in case the machine malfunctions. You use it overseas at your own risk!

If you wanted to use it, you might want to investigate a step up converter. This changes the local voltage into a higher one for use with electrical products purchased overseas.

@Stuart Hello Stuart! I read your post about using Dyson airwrap abroad and I see that Dyson don’t recommend to use the machine in countries with different voltages. But what about the plugs? I mean for example I have Dyson airwrap with Chinese plug (voltage in China is 220), can I use it with plug adapter in Spain where the voltage is the same but the plug is different?

Hi @kessi,

Thanks for your question!

Where the voltage of the country you purchased from and the country you’re travelling to are the same, your machine should work as normal. But please note, we don’t recommend using a travel adaptor with your machine as we can’t guarantee it won’t cause damage. As the adaptor hasn’t been manufactured or tested by Dyson, we’re not in a position to offer any assurances around its safety, quality or functionality. For this reason, we have to advise that any damage caused as a result of using a travel adaptor may not be covered under your Dyson guarantee - so any repair or replacement parts needed in future could be chargeable.

I hope this helps with your decision-making!

Can I use an adaptor or an electrical convertor?

“We don’t suggest the use of an adaptor or converter to use your device in another country...”

...good to know.  Thanks for the info, Stuart.  :)

I’m going on a trip to China in a few days so I’ll need an answer soon - not sure how to contact Customer Support, but can the Airstrait and Airwrap work in Beijing China specificially?

Hello,

I bought my Dyson in the US and I am moving back to India. I bought it last year August. Is it possible to exchange it for the one that works in India, or maybe get it exchanged in India.

what are my options? Thank you :)

This is simple...like other electronics manufacturers, Dyson knows how to resolve the issue but would rather have us buy a separate unit for international use instead

Hello everyone,

Apologies if there are a few similar questions floating around, but I’m very confused about the usage in Europe of an Aistrait purchased in the UK.

According to the Dyson website, I understand that “(the Dyson Airstrait™ straightener) has been designed for use with the standard voltage of the country they were purchased in”. This is followed by a list that puts UK and Europe in the same area (220-240V). From this, I would gather that yes, I can use an Airstrait purchased in the UK in Italy, for example.

However, this is followed up with “We advise against using your Dyson hair care machine in another country with an adaptor”, which contradict the above. If I can use an Airstrait in the countries in the same voltage areas, how am I supposed to do that without an adapter?

Am I misunderstanding something?

Has anyone tried using an Airstrait purchased in the UK in Italy or another European country, by any chance? How did it go?

Many thanks :)

I’m preparing to go abroad next month & am so glad I found this post. I understand these are expensive investments & yes, Dyson, should have anticipated that its customers would travel internationally & would want to bring their products with them. But, Dyson has been busy developing & improving on a myriad of products. I would suspect an international adapter would be one of those items but until it meets Dyson standards, they wouldn’t release it & I am more than ok with that. Obviously, there is a need & want for this type of adapter, I can’t imagine the requests for it has gone ignored.

Hello, my boyfriend recently bought me a dyson air wrap from the Netherlands not even 2 weeks ago. We were not aware that you cannot use an adapter or converter to use the dyson in the United States.

I spoke on the phone with 3 representatives and one of them recommended me to get it repairs so the voltage is the correct one. I called multiple times through customer service to request this, but they told me there was nothing they could do.

It’s ridiculous how terrible the cross border customer service is. How hard is it just to exchange a new machine for another one especially when it costs about $600. Is there anything I can do?

So if UK and Europe are the same voltage am I OK to use my airstrait in the Canaries just using a standard adapter plug ??  One of the reasons I purchased the airstrait is for use on holiday in the hope that my hair will be less frizzy !!

I’m a Canadian currently travelling in Tenerife, Spain. I just discovered that my beloved Dyson Air Wrap (purchased in Canada) does NOT work. I’ll be on an Italian cruise in the spring, and I obviously won’t be able to use it onboard or in Italy either. I’m SO upset as my husband just gifted me this Dyson Sir Wrap for my birthday.
Has anyone successfully used the suggested Connair converter/adapter? I would like to purchase one, but only will if it works in Europe. Thank you!

Bought a HD15 in Japan and does not work in the U.S., it shutdowns immediately when I plugged in. Dont buy in Japan even if the salesperson told me it would work in the U.S.

Japan and U.S. is the same voltage range as stated in the article.
