If Alexa has done something unexpected after you’ve given it a command, it is possible that she may have misheard you or misinterpreted something you said as a request.

To understand why Alexa just did something, say "Alexa, why did you do that?" or "Alexa, what did you do?".

You can also ask Alexa to read back your most recent request by saying "Alexa, what's the last thing you heard?" or "Alexa, what did you hear?".

Alexa's activity is also viewable in the Alexa app on your mobile device. This activity log records utterances that Alexa heard, responses she gave and actions she took.

If your having trouble getting Alexa to respond to your commands, our ‘Alexa didn't respond to my request, what can I do?’ article can help.
