Hairdryer: Replace, Repair or Buy a less expensive product? | Dyson Community
Skip to main content

This morning my $400 Dyson hairdryer stopped working. I believe the hairdryer overheated. I’ll admit, it's my own fault for not cleaning the filter.

I’m curious to hear from others who have had to make a decision whether to repair at a Dyson Repair Facility (costing nearly as much as a new one), buy a new Dyson or purchase a less expensive hair dryer? If you went with a Dyson Repair Facility, what was your experience?

I am concerned about the amount of garbage on our planet, and feel repair is the most ethical thing I could do. I just wish Dyson would establish a process to make it easier and more affordable.

Hi @SilverFox632,

Welcome to the Dyson Community!

We’re sorry to hear your Dyson Supersonic™️ hair dryer is no longer working. We do recommend cleaning the inner and outer filter sections at least monthly, to ensure consistent performance and to protect your machine’s motor. You can see how to do this here:

We’d encourage you to contact Dyson Customer Care in your region directly - if you haven’t already - to discuss your options. You can reach them at Dyson.com by clicking Support.

If you do decide to replace your Dyson Supersonic™️ hair dryer with a new one, your current machine can be responsibly disposed of. We use high-grade, recyclable materials which can be accepted at most household recycling centers.
