I have just purchased and received my new GenDec5, every time I vacuum on carpet the roller jams and stops
it is on 2 weeks old and I have to keep turning the vacuum on and off to reset it so the rollers start

Welcome to the Dyson Community, and congratulations on your new machine!
Is the carpet you’re cleaning long pile, or particularly densely woven? The motorised brush bar is engineered to shut down for protection if it detects excessive resistance in use.
We would normally expect that switching power to Eco mode, and/or opening the debris gate using the red slider on the front of the Digital Motorbar cleaner head, would resolve this issue in most cases.

in answer to your question, no the carpet is not long pile or woven, just standard carpet
