My Dyson V12 Absolute Detect Slim is 7months old, and issues with the filter started about a month ago. After each use, I get a message informing me to wash the filter. Even it has been barely used. I bought a new filter, but I still got the same message. I’ve tried cleaning the entire vacuum as much as possible (all parts), yet the issue persists. It seems as if really small dust particles gather around the filter quite often, and block the filtering. At this point the vacuum is almost unusable as I cannot use it to clean the entire apartment, without washing the filter during a cleaning session which again takes days to dry.
Hi Nela!
I started having the exact same problem with my Dyson V12 Detect Slim Absolute. I have to clean the filter after each use. The message appears really after a short usage. According to Dyson, cleaning the fiilter should be necessary every month, not after each use. And the dust bin is not even close to being full when this message appears. The filter, on the other hand, is actually clogged up quite fast - sometimes more, sometimes less. But even when it is not so clogged up I get the message that I need to clean the filter.
I tried all maintenance/cleaning instructions for the Dyson vaccuum cleaner but nothing helped so far. Have you found a solution yet?
I contacted Dyson support and they told me that they are pretty sure that a new filter will solve the problem. I have to say that my current filter still looks fine but maybe it is something that cannot easily be seen with the bare eye. Well, I really hope the new filter will solve the problem in my case.
The things that worries me a bit is that you (Nela) wrote that you bought a new filter but that you still have the problem.
Here is an update from my side: I now received a new filter and in my case and at least for now it actually solved the problem. I have used my Dyson vaccum cleaner once now with the new filter to vaccum my apartment and it did not show the message anymore that the filter has to be cleaned (immediately after one ussage or even before being finished with my apartment). I had a look at the filter and it was much less dusty than it used to be before.
I am a bit surprised because the old and the new filter really don’t look much different. The purple color inside the textile tissue looks a bit bleached out on the old filter from cleaning it with water.
However, there must be some kind of difference because the result is clearly different when using the old filter and the new filter.
Can someone explain to me what exactly causes this difference)? Is the filter getting dusty much more quickly than it used to the only sign to know that it is time to replace the filter?
