I want to trade in a very old dc05, but can't find all the tools and the brush head is a non dyson part. Will this make the trade in invalid?

Welcome to the Dyson Community!
The non-genuine head is not a problem - just select the option to recycle as you go through the checkout process, and package up and return the machine and its accessories to us using the freepost label.
