Dyson Supersonic Hairdryer - Stopped Working | Dyson Community
Skip to main content

I have had my supersonic hairdryer which I love just over two years and on Friday it suddenly stopped working. I thought it could be the plug I was using, so tried another and still nothing. None of the lights come on anymore, it’s as dead as a dodo.

I use the hairdryer twice maybe three times a week depending on plans and clean the filter regularly as maintenance. I have tried different plugs to see if that was the issue and checked the fuse in the plug to make sure that isn’t blown (it’s not). For something that is so expensive I would expect it to last longer than 2 years!!

I contacted Dyson online customer service and they said because it’s just outside of warranty, I would have to pay £100 to have it fixed which is crazy considering it’s not even lasted 2 years! I was looking to buy the Air Wrap, but because my hairdryer hasn’t lasted longer than 2 year’s I don’t think I will bother wasting more money on something that will not last!

Has anyone else had this issue with the Supersonic HD07 model?

Hi @B3CMU,

Welcome to the Dyson Community!

We engineer and test our machines to last, both in our labs and in real home environments. We can’t put an exact lifespan on any machine or component as this depends on how each individual machine is used, stored and maintained. The free Dyson free guarantee covers new hair care machines for 2 years from the date of purchase. We would expect them to last at least that long, and often a lot longer.

Outside of your Dyson Supersonic™️ hair dryer’s guarantee period, any repairs or replacements would be chargeable at £99 - it sounds like you’ve been correctly advised by the Dyson UK Customer Care team.

We can only apologise if you’re disappointed. If you change your mind about getting your machine repaired, you’re welcome to reach back out to the UK team directly. You can find their contact information here.
