Dyson backpack project: How air pollution affects school children across sub-Saharan AfricaNews

Dyson engineers worked in conjunction with Children’s Air Pollution Profiles in Africa (CAPPA) , arm of the Achieving Control of Asthma in Children in Africa study led by Queen Mary University London (QMUL) and Imperial College London to understand personal air quality exposure across six African cities. The Dyson air quality monitoring backpacks was at the heart of this endeavour; the backpack was carried by 297 urban school children aged between 12 and 15 years. with asthma between 21st June and 26th November, 2021. Data was collected from each participating child in Ghana, Malawi, Nigeria, South Africa, Tanzania, Uganda and Zimbabwe, making it the largest study of its kind. Only 20% of monitored days (227 out of 1109 days) were below the World Health Organisation 24-hour PM2.5 exposure health guideline of 15 μg/m³. Highest PM2.5 exposure was monitored at Blantyre, Malawi (median 41.8 µg/m³). Factors for higher PM2.5 exposure: presence of smokers at home, use of coal or wood for cook

Dyson launches Air Purity Pulse Check reportNews

This month, Dyson is launching the ‘Air Purity Pulse Check’ report, a detailed dive into UK attitudes towards the importance of indoor air quality. This in-depth study delves into the views of the public and business leaders, owners and managers on the problem of indoor air pollution. Poor air quality is a worldwide issue and is recognised by the UK government as ‘the largest environmental risk to public health in the UK’. The Air Purity Pulse Check found that over half of people polled are concerned about poor air quality impacting health, yet only 59% of people polled believe their own homes have good air quality. How our engineers test the Dyson Pure Cool™ purifying fanAIR TREATMENT

Other air purifiers are only designed to pass a chamber test. We don't think that is good enough. Some manufacturers of conventional air purifiers gauge their performance using a laboratory test method called ‘Clean Air Delivery Rate’. It is conducted in a compact chamber, with an added fan to circulate the air – and only one sensor to measure air quality. Discover how we've re-engineered the Dyson Airwrap™ multi-styler attachmentsHAIR CARE

When we launched the Dyson Airwrap™ multi-styler in 2018, it revolutionised styling. Since then, we've refined our attachment technology, to improve usability, versatility and performance. One of our biggest achievements with these attachments is how effective and intuitive they are to use. This is a result of the optimised geometry and refined engineering inside them. With the Airwrap™ barrels, we focused on finding a way to achieve both directions of curl on one barrel, to give you optimal control and styling, in an easy-to-use way. The brush attachment has been re-engineered with Enhanced Coanda airflow. On the new design we've got these vanes which turn and guide the flow. This gives you precision Coanda airflow for controlled style and alignment. The Coanda smoothing dryer now has two modes. Firstly, it has the Drying mode. You can then switch into Smoothing mode. This uses the Coanda effect to sort the hair and reduce the flyaways*, giving you a nice, smooth finish. All of these
